Children’s Glaucoma Foundation Visionary Gala 2023

Scroll down for a note from Carol.

Hi Everyone,

As you may know, I developed glaucoma as a very young child. I vividly remember being six years old and having doctors tell my parents to teach me braille as I would go blind. Glaucoma can have a devastating outcome. It is one of the leading causes of blindness in children Worldwide.

I have been so very fortunate to receive care from David Walton, MD. He is a pediatric glaucoma specialist who, luckily for me, also treats adults with glaucoma from childhood. When I go for check-ups, there are babies and children waiting to be seen – whose vision is often threatened. I know these children are getting the best possible care there is. So, I was elated to learn that a group of parents got together to form the Children’s Glaucoma Foundation (CGF). For more than two decades, this Foundation led by Dr. Walton has led on vital research and advocacy for patients with pediatric glaucoma. The Foundation has been directly responsible for ensuring hundreds of children receive care that preserves their eyesight. (Please see the attached note detailing all the things the CGF does for children with glaucoma) – which includes paying for hospital bills when needed.

Amidst the many vital causes you can support, it would mean so much to me if you were able to donate to the Children’s Glaucoma Foundation. Even better, if you would attend our Visionary Gala on Saturday, November 4 th at the Seaport Hotel in Boston. If you would like me to add you to the list to receive an announcement about tickets, please let me know. It’s a fun, meaningful evening for a worthy cause and it would be an honor to have you join in. Please find further information about The Children’s Glaucoma Foundation.
